Job Title: Equipment Operator/Truck Driver

Salary range: 16.25

Hours: Full-Time

Job Description:

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Performs inspection of equipment before, during and after operation to ensure equipment is safe to operate;
• Ensures weed control of City properties, right of ways, and ditches;
• Cleans streets and curbs within the City’s jurisdiction;
• Prepares streets for paving, seals streets and compacts asphalt mats;
• Operates various equipment for street overlay and street repairs;
• Cleans and replaces culverts, drains, ditches and bridges;
• Removes and disposes brushes, limbs and trees from right of ways;
• Mows;
• Performs concrete work;
• Replaces and repairs signs and poles throughout the city;
• Operates dump truck and other vehicles as needed;
• Loads and transports heavy equipment to job sites as needed;
• Operates various heavy equipment for excavations, loading and other tasks typical for the department;
• Assists in the maintenance, repair and adjustment of traffic signals;
• Participates in on-call rotation schedule.

QUALIFICATIONS

• High School Diploma or GED;
• Two (2) to five (5) years heavy equipment experience preferred;
• Current Class B CDL required;
• Current Class A CDL with Tanker endorsement preferred;
• Flagger Certification preferred;
• Trenching and Excavations Safety Technician Certification preferred;
• IMSA Work Zone Traffic Control Certification preferred;
• Knowledge of equipment maintenance advantageous;  
• Knowledge of safety procedures related to the equipment being operated and work zones.
